Turbo expanders cool air from 450K to 300K. We are planning to use turboexpanders inorder to convert heat into work in interstage of compressors to cool air without much pressure loss. Air flow rate is 720CFM. In case we heat liquid nitrogen from 80K to 100K. Enthaply drop is 22KJ/kg. But liquid flow rate comes 0.00014 m3/s. Is it possible to design turbine for the same ??
Upendra Singh , I tried to design axial turbine on parameters which you need using free AxStream Lite software. Unfortunately, I haven't be able to design turbine which will be cool air from 450K to 300K.
I was able to get axial turbine which will be cool air only from 450K to 350K . There is one stage axial microturbine with 50 000 rpm shaft rotatianal speed and admission coefficient is 0,2. Power of this turbine is 15 kW. Pressure drop (P0*/P2 is 8 (P0*-total presuure on inlet;P2-static pressupowere on outlet)). On attach images you can see integral data of this turbine.
I hope it help you. Also i suggest you looking for parameters of microturbines that really make in world.
Can we use two stage turbine. I think cooling will be acheived ??. Or we can use heat exchange with fluids like liquid nitrogen or R 134a. Then design turbine for the same.
