What is the best way to polish and degrease graphite rods cut into rectangular shapes of known area at the bottom?

i am using 2000 crr/r and polishing cloth with ultrasonication and ethanol degreasing, later drying in hot air. Will vacuum drying after degreasing with acetone better?
