Any material that recently fell through the black hole's event horizon is plummeting toward the singularity at the center of the hole, and being torn into ever smaller bits as it nears that point. At the singularity, space-time itself is being torn apart at an infinite rate, creating an infinite amount of matter and anti-matter that instantly becomes part of the singularity, so that the mass of the singularity remains essentially constant (other than the relatively slow addition of newly arriving material). So there is a heck of a lot of very fast, very transitory things going on near the singularity, and perhaps a smidgen of stuff on the way to the singularity. But otherwise, the "hole" is as close to empty as any otherwise empty region of space outside the black hole.

Contrary to current theory, my own theory proposes that black holes are very simple entities. A number of theorists, past and present, have proposed Zero Point Energy as also being a physical field called the Zero Point Field, theorists such as De Broglie, Dirac, and many others, which many have called a super-fluid.
The creation of a neutron star is the result of a supernova explosion and implosion. When big enough, a back hole can be created.
Following this logic, a black hole is nothing more than the most condensed form of matter, made up of highly compressed field material of the Zero Point Field. A presently unknown form of matter, of the simplest, and densest type. They all have a finite size to them and are the opposite of being complex, but not vacuous, or a single point.
