A lot of research is still going on in the field to improve the efficiency of DSSC. All aspects are being studied like the working electrode (i.e. alternative oxide semiconductor, its structure and the adsorbed dye), the electroyte etc.. Hope some break-through will happen to improve the efficiency of DSSC to be really useful.

Of course, the efficiency is the best important factor. But, DSSC as a device is still very unstable in various aspacts.

To suchitra sen, DSSCs efficiency was 1% in 1991& recently achievable efficiency is 10%. i would like to see some break-through in these field . :)

I agree with Dr. Choi that like efficiency, stability is an equally important factor for a technology to be sustainable and usable.

Well, it seems it is very difficult to increase the efficiency further. Although the 13% has been achived in the Lab, only 8% can be reached in the industry. As the solar cell using organic material has got big improved in the convertion efficiency, the DSSC may be dead if no significant improvement can be achieved in the near future, I guess.
