It requires higher electrical energy to produce primary Aluminium . Most of the energy source is fossil fuel responsible for GHG emissions. Hyro power is also another source for many.
Solar is emerging as a viable and reliable source of green energy. Can electricity produced through Solar route be made useful and practical source of energy for primary Aluminium making.
What do you mean "efficiency"? Efficiency for example: photovoltaic (PV), CPV etc.: electricity production/available solar energy
For photovoltaic system does not matter where the electricity will be using.

If one can share if he/she comes across any info whether Solar power has been effectively used in Electrolysis (Hall & Herault process ) for making primary Aluminium. Thanks again for mentioning PV etc.
Aluminum pots require constant electricity. If the pot cools down, the charge freezes solid. It is very difficult to remove and restart the pot.
As solar electricity is intermittent, it cannot continuously provide the 15 kWh of electricity required per kilogram of aluminum produced. Many smelters are powered by hydro that is much more reliable.
