Theoretically, EBSD is a technique that able to determine the local crystal structure and crystal orientation at the surface of a specimen. So, what is the main important reason to do this analysis? is there any strong correlation with mechanical behaviour?
Mechanical behavior of a material greatly depend on its Crystal structure crystal orientation and micro structure.

Yes. there is. Actually, we can get much information about the microstructure of materials by EBSD data.
the grain orientation, grain boundaries (LAGB and HAGB), local misorientation, grain size, and etc, which have been post-processed by EBSD data, can affect on mechanical properties.

I have got your point. You are wondering how can a near-surface (not at the surface) data collected from a tiny region be correlated with the bulk? The mechanical property can be assessed by EBSD analysis only if the scan is performed covering a sufficiently large area so that it represents the bulk. EBSD is indeed a powerful tool, especially if you are interested in what is happening at a local scale. It gives you the point-to-point misorientation data by indexing the Kikuchi patterns with a great spatial resolution (I have worked with as low as 10 nm). This is basically a box of information that you can make use of in many ways. I use HKL Channel 5 and TSL-OIM software for post-processing. It can give you grain size, boundary misorientation, local misorientation, grain orientation spread, pole figures, inverse pole figures, band contrast maps, orientation distribution function, special boundaries, orientation relationship, dislocation density, and whatnot.
Crystallographic orientation decides how easy or difficult it is for a grain to deform under a certain deformation condition. For polycrystalline materials, it is displayed by Taylor factor which again can be simulated from EBSD data. So you see EBSD is really effective if you use it effectively.
In short, materials science is all about the relationships between (a) properties, (b) processing, and (c) microstructure. EBSD represents an easy, quick way to assess microstructure and relate it to the other two.
