Before observing the morphology pictures diffraction pattern, is it possible to differentiate either from the color or shape which one is α and β in TEM observation?
Alpha phase of Ti is Hexagonal closed Packed structure and beta Phase is body centred cubic structure.
It is not possible to distinguish the Alpha phase and beta Phase by TEM .
To distinguish these two phases you need to Study XRD pattern.
Though, most commonly, alpha and beta Phase coexist. So, in XRD pattern , you will get peaks for the both. But you can calculate the abundance by proper XRD Analysis.

u can differentiate via SAED attached with TEM or via HRTEM through noticing the line spacing of specific facet which indeed should be different for both. where from SAED by notifying the different diffraction of the white circles for both alpha and beta
