An addict is a person who is addicted to a habit, or substance physiologically or psychologically. Is any differences between an addict who lives in a developed country with other one in a developing country?
"Addiction is a condition that results when a person ingests a substance (e.g., alcohol, cocaine, nicotine) or engages in an activity (e.g., gambling, sex, shopping) that can be pleasurable but the continued use/act of which becomes compulsive and interferes with ordinary life responsibilities, such as work, relationships, or health. Users may not be aware that their behavior is out of control and causing problems for themselves and others" ..Normally this is a response to emotional stress. https://www.psychologytoday.com/basics/addiction
Why would addiction -as stress response - differ from country to country? I think the expression of this kind of problem may differ in frequency between countries (youngsters not leaving their rooms in Japan or Swedish cutting their skin)

Nader: Do you mean opiate addiction? Or opiate abuse? They're not necessarily the same, although a higher percentage of people who abuse opiates become addicted than is true for most other drugs. And are you referring to heroin or other forms of opiates?
