Sandhya Avasthi , A researcher is the most important instrument in a research journey. You are going to spend a considerable amount of time and energy with your research. Choosing an area which is close to your expertiese will add a lot of value to you. So, if the topic does not belong to your expertise and interests, chances are that you may not produce quality work. Selecting a research topic is a continuous screening process. To start with, identify the broad area keeping your expertise and interest in mind. Next, focus on Journals producing articles in those areas. Look for articles that interest you more than any other topic. Collect those articles, look for research gaps and future research directions they offer. Doing this for some considerable amount (at least six months) of time will give you enough hints to come nearer to your research topic. Simultaneously, you can also refer to AMJ guidelines for recent trends on a variety of topics. Finally, the topic should also revolve around the expertise of your prospective guide.
