We for sure have found out the underlying thing giving us the sense of color, which is an EM wave & the various properties of the wave and their association with various observable colors. We also know about the mental process associated with processing visual stimulus of which color is one attribute but the inherent meaning of color is still not known to us, right? And how do we look at it?
In nature the central meaning of the colour sense is linked firstly to personal safety from animal predictors. In this case the human race gains advantage using camouflage, hiding in ambush and blending in with the colours of their natural surroundings in order to gain resources.
The link between the colour sense and the process of food gathering is absolutely fundamental. For a starting point, Imagine if you will walking into an orchard to select and pick a nice ripe Red apple and compare it with how difficult it would be to seek edible food when lost in a jungle. Note carefully what is happening here, advantage is gained by both the human and the plant. On one hand the human is fed, and on the other the plant gains potential seed distribution. In effect the evolutional process has taken a positive step, and that is to the benefit of the world at large,
