Please tell me basic difference between SBA-15 and MCM-41 and suggest me some literature. How are formed and what is mechanism behind. Governing factors?
Mesoporous silica SBA-15 is synthesized under acidic conditions using a Pluronic 123 triblock copolymer as a structure and tetraethoxysilane as a source of silicon dioxide. Once synthesis is complete, the organic template is removed in various ways. Spherical pores have a wide size distribution.
MSM-41- aluminosilicate or silicate. A surfactant solution is prepared with cylindrical micelles. Voids with honey micelles are filled with dissolved silicate. The aqueous phase turns into a gel when the pH is adjusted to the desired value, and then condensation occurs in a solid continuous network. After washing the surfactant or removing it by heat treatment, a mesoporous structure is obtained. The pore diameter is controlled by the choice of surfactant. The pores are cylindrical with a narrow size distribution.
