I do not know if there exists "ideal" teachers in the Platonic way. So the real question is how to choose teachers. It is known that a bad teacher he will stay bad, independently of the the training he had. Training may make him more acceptable. Thus the problem can be solved by hunting talents and then give them appropriate training as well.

But there is difference between a Good or Great teacher and an IDEAL Teacher.

Ideal Teacher it's a great word, may be don't exists or it's very rare.

In my religion an Ideal teacher which makes good student for all the humanity not only for himself or for his country. Also, the ideal teacher works to make students more better than him in all dimensions !

From my own point of view, if anybody wants to become an ideal teacher he or she should follow the given formula (RST)

Here,

R= He or She should focus on Research and Development activities

S= Should be enough studies .

T= Flow the best way of teaching.

Along with the above mandatory conditions he of she should have good interpersonal, communication , decisional , adaptability and easy to understand-ability skills. Finally he or she should have a good character and free from any kind of bias.

Teacher as a professor as a very high responsibilities for our social fabric .This depends that a teacher should be an Ideal one .He should have a good moral conduct & should be have a person with Honesty & integrity ..I personally feel that he must have a knowledge of psy so that he can solve ,track,& help the student .

With the said qualities of his mind & heart ,he can certainly contribute to offer the guideline even to the parents for progressive path of his child.His merely present before the student offer &impressive project amount the student creating an everlasting feelings in the mind for the ultimate development of the career .

This is my idea of the ideal teacher:

The ideal teacher is a teacher who does teaching not as a job but because he/she loves teaching and is able to teach students to love learning.

An ideal teacher must do what his/her name say: to teach efficiently by using all available legal ways. Otherwise, if he/she is not effective, it is not worth to name him/her as a Teacher.

In my opinion, an ideal teacher is a person who illustrate everything as a test. As a biologist, i try my best to take my students in various fields and teach them there. My experiences indicated that they will memorize better. moreover, an ideal teacher should do his/ her best to encourage students to learn and help them, not just come and go just for making his/ her fortune!

For the ideal teacher is present in the Brazilian classrooms is essential to receive a fair salary, which does not occur in most schools in Brazil. Without a worth salary , the teacher fails to engage the art of teaching, being obliged to exercise another profession so that you can live with dignity

I believe that the best teachers are always those who have a strong human dimension!

Dear Nelson, I agree with you. In India also the salary of a teacher is quite less when compare to other professional. Due to this reason many teacher take other jobs like private tuitions and finally reduced the quality of classroom teaching.

Dear All, Thank you for this encouraging answers and contributions; it worths mentioning that the UN classifies teaching as one of the hardest jobs.

Academic positions even in US gets lower salaries compared to industrial jobs. That is a problem here. We train Technology teachers for schools, and find that not many students want to join that program because salary level when they graduate is lower compared to what other technologists get.

I truly believe that a good teacher is the one who share with his/her students with heart, passion, soul and mind all the accumulated knowledge not only in his/her field of expertise, but mainly in the life's School.

The term, 'ideal' is a misnomer here. What do you mean by ideal? The mentality of the people differ so do the expectations of the students. For some students, the 'ideal' teacher is the one who give him/her necessary notes to pass the exam. For another student, the 'ideal' teacher is the one who ask easy question in the finals. For another student, the teach who encourage him to read and understand more would be the ideal. For some, the 'ideal' teacher is who mind his/her own business and not to get involved in students affairs. For some, the teacher who inspires. Can you see the difference? Why the term, 'ideal' is a misnomer?

An ideal teacher should be continually critically reflective of their own teaching practices. By doing so, the ideal teacher can develop better future teaching practices and ultimately better student learning. The main goal for any teacher should be to enhance student learning!

An ideal teacher has many qualities. Many experts have pointed it out above; which i totally agree.

Another quality of a good or ideal teacher is to stimulate an apparently ordinary student to an unusual effort and make them winners.

This is a wonderful question, very difficult to answer. Is there really an ideal teacher? According to me, a good teacher is one who inspires students to find out more about the topics taught, motivates the students to be proactive, takes efforts to develop the overall personality of the students and is an ideal example, before them. He or she should practice what is preached. Students are very observant and they imitate their role models. Teachers can actually become their very good friends, philosophers and guides.

Yaya, i agree with your viewpoint, but we are just trying to "build yp' an ideal teacher. Obviously, none of us is perfect but it seems to me that we are striving at achiwving perfection.

Dear, ideals do not exist as finds @Noureddine Ouerfelli. They do exist in movies only. Therefore, let me use the term a good teacher. A good teacher is the one who can communicates his/her knowledge to students in a very effective and efficient way. After his/her lecture, students would not have doubts in their minds.

Ideal teachers do exist! May be that you have not come across such persons. I was fortunate enough to have been taught by a few such teachers during my school days. It is for their influence that I am what I am now! Perhaps, you were unfortunate enough not to have met such persons.

Ideal teachers.. most of these teachers can be seen in pre- school or kindergarten teachers as they work from their inner passionate of young children's education and development. Young children have the eyes for passionate teachers. They can form close bonding with these teachers and building the trust relationship within short period of time. In fact, they can love and express their love to these ideal teachers with their whole heart. It is amazing to see sparkle in their eyes each time they meet their ideal teachers. If you could find one, you could see the criteria of ideal teachers in them!

It's a big challenge. I humbly think there is not an ideal teacher. What it rarely occurs is a perfect match, in which one involves the other; sometimes teaching, sometimes learning, in a perfect symbiosis.

It's clear, that we all are different, so your students are, and each of them has his own learning style.
