What is a very good alternative for polyvinyl alcohol?

Hello everyone!

We are currently making 3d prints using semi-refined kappa carrageenan hydrogels. We will try to use polyvinyl alcohol since most published articles have very good but our problem is that PVA might not retain the biodegradability of hydrogels. What could be a very good substitute of PVA for this cause? thanks!

I would try with Alginate, Collagen, Dextran or Carboxymethylcellulose
