What is the simple test to differentiate an unknown sample to see whether its protein sample or DNA? Can I perform Nitric acid test or Absorption Spectra?
I have a small quantity of sample. In order to identify the sample which test should I take to confirm its a protein or DNA, without wasting the sample quantity?
Use a nano drop, 2 ul sample will be enough... 260/280 nm Abs will give you an idea.

If u do not know if it's protein or DNA how can u trust that sample at all?
It's an unknown sample and I have been told that it could be either protein or DNA...
Go ahead with nandrop or Agarose gel with known DNA samples.If you have good volume , may go for some biochemical tests such as Bradford for protein estimation. Hope this helps!!
