What is a good buffer for sonication?

I want to perform filter paper assay but my cellulase is located in the cytoplasm of bacteria. For this reason, I sonicated it by PBS buffer (pH7.4). Can I sonicate the E.coli in different buffer (for example sodium acetate buffer pH5.5. for FPA assay, this enzyme must be diluted in sodium acetate buffer)? I can not find a good protocol for that.
