This is related to ArcGIS. If I want to calculate RMSE for vertical accuracy of some DEM, which tool is more representative? This question is also related to difference between wireframe based surface model and ordinary grid.

The results should be similar (at least for point values). With Add Surface Information tool you can set more interpolation settings and the result will be in double type. On the other hand if you don’t want to make interpolations Extract values to point tool is OK.

I agree with David, in my opinion for this kind of analysis Extract v. to point is the simplest and faster way.

What is the purpose of additional interpolation with Add surface information tool ? I just want to get real height values from model, and the realitiy in this case is determined by pixel size.
