Thatnk you, Stan for sharing your experience. Do you use concordancers in teaching writing?

I have never used but some of my colleagues do. I focus on the process rather than the product, i.e. on drafting-and redrafting and reworking, but haven't used concordancers to enhance the process.

Our writing course requires multiple writing assignments and different types of writing (research paper, journal article summary, research critique, professional letters. etc.) with the goal of teaching different writing styles. The more students actually write, the more proficient they become.

Regarding internet resources, the Purdue Owl site, "Online Writing Lab" by Purdue University, is an excellent learning resource for students and we make use of it quite often. It is very helpful and contains a wide variety of writing topics.

I appreciate your ideas so much)))) Bonie, I have studied the recources you've recommended, thank you. They are very informative and helphul. The level of inguistic competence of our students is from elementary up to low-intermediate mostly. That means that we need to concentrate on both - the process of writing and the product itself.  As for me, I would like to develop such a system of teaching writing with the help of internet technologies that will help enhance most aspects of writing - organisation, structure, spelling, word order, choice of vocabulary, grammar.... It is a challenging task, but the wheel was also once invented)))))))))) I collect different internet-resources on my web-page))))):

Internet tools?  The internet itself is probably the most powerful tool.  Its been said that it contains the sum total of human knowledge.  And, it is mostly interacted with by reading. 

Reading naturally exposes human brains [including students - just kidding] to different ways of thinking and different word patterns.  Recognizing word patterns and being able to substitute new words is key to any person learning a language.  For example, if your students need to write technically then they should immerse themselves in technical reading.  Then they will be better equipped to conform their own discourse to the newly learned matrix. So it is with any style of writing.
