This is a difficult question with no easy answer. Contrary to what the prior two posts suggest, the literature is far from unanimous to this regard. There is some indication that diversity has a positive effect on organizations, see, for example here:
Dwyer, S., Richard, O., & Chadwick, K. (2003). Gender diversity in management and firm performance: The influence of growth orientation and organizational culture. Journal of Business Research, 56, 1009–1019. doi:10.1016/S0148-2963(01)00329- 0
Herring, C. (2009). Does diversity pay?: Race, gender, and the business case for diversity. American Sociological Review, 74, 208–224.
However, if one wants to manage diversity, one needs to understand how diversity affects employees, psychological states, and team processes. In other words, we need to understand how diversity affects the functioning of work teams. This is a big challenge, and research to that regard has produced many insights, some of which are however contradictory. I just wrote a review of the literature on team diversity that will appear later this year; I attach the according manuscript, which I think will give you a good overview. You can cite it as:
Meyer, B. (in press). Team diversity: A review of the literature. In R. Rico (Ed), The Wiley Blackwell handbook of the psychology of teamwork and collaborative processes. Chichester, UK: Wiley-Blackwell.
Thank you very much for sharing your insights and views. Truly appreciate it. I am drafting a text book to be used at the postgraduate level for my students specifically, and Malaysia generally. It is quite difficult to find a book to refer to when we are discussing about diversity. Malaysia itself is rich with varieties of diversities. I need feedback and inputs to help me in this early stage of my draft. I thank everyone for your valuable feedbacks.
Check below listed my research paper. It may help.

In 2011, ADB approved "Our People Strategy". The document defines the principles ADB will follow to recruit, retain, and develop staff and managers and to improve its workplace environment, ensuring it has the right people to succeed with. Details of the strategy are at http://www.adb.org/publications/our-people-strategy-skills-and-passion-improve-lives-asia-and-pacific. The document pays much attention to diversity.
I live in a similarly culturally diverse society in Trinidad and Tobago. Our national anthem actually accommodates for such diversity in stating "every creed and race find an equal place ..." If your national anthem has any such indication, then you would need to highlight this in your text book and use as a departure point for discussing diversity. I also did some research dealing with diverse cultural and international students in higher education that can add illumination to the topic in understanding some of the issues that may arise. I also did a search thru ResearchGate on your topic. Here are all the links to the articles:
