Commitment, for an institution or organization or a company, is a positive attribute under the presumption that these sites possess noble goals or accepted legal aims. A dire mistake is to transform this commitment to a blind loyalty to those who are "imposed" at the top positions of these places.

An employee such as a scholar, who is blessed with honesty & sincerity, will be committed or devoted to his/her university without hesitation or pretense. The interests of the university must be at the top of priorities with a total disregard to those who indulge in the efforts of causing the academics to adopt cheating or the attitude of "Who Cares?".

With proper encouragement & incentives and with a policy of indiscriminate justice, an administration "comprised of leaders & not just managers" can do wonders to raise the level of commitment in the lower rank & file staff.

Though written for the particular context of schools, this book provides an excellent summary of research on factors contributing to commitment of organization members from the broader organizational leader-member perspective.
