For the options that you described I highly recommend to you the aqcuisition of a Tobii Eye tracker. Yes, in comparison with the GP3 could be a little bit more expensive but the tech specs are highly above the GP3.

If you have a good budget I recommend to you to read about the Tobii Pro Fusion.

I have some friends that based there research on entry level eye trackers, like the GP3, and they where a little bit regreted. Now they are in Luxemburg doing trials research for his eye tracking system with Tobii eye trackers.

Just few thoughts on your choice.

- for the on-screen tracking in a lab, both trackers will be more accurate, than glass-based model, given that you use a chinrest to prevent head movement.

- both trackers will provide you pupil sizes for both eyes and raw gaze data, no difference here. The advantage of Tobii is that its algorithm for non-raw gaze positions can compensate for head movements in a certain range.

- I think that the GazePoint is significantly cheaper, than Tobii X2-60

- Tobii software, SDK, and drivers are best among many competitors.

- In my experience, GazePoint is very sensitive to calibration, which may require more efforts than with Tobii. Once GazePoint is calibrated well, its accuracy is quite decent.

and, finally, if you need powerful software for eye-tracking and pupillometry , check our project, EventIDE (www.okazolab.com). Our software supports all features of these trackers.

For budget issues, we will probably not buy Eyelink hardware (that seems to be one of the best on the market anyway). Moreover, we will not buy Tobii for another reason, the impossibility to have access to raw data, only to data transformed by Tobii algorithm and colleagues working with eye-tracking devices (Eyelink 1000) do not recommand me that ...

With the budget we have, we will probably buy the Gazepoint GP3 but the HD version (150 Hz), not the first prices but his grand brother :)

I hope we will be able to do what we want to do with this device and get reliable data !

Hi Cyril Forestier - I want to make sure that accurate information is presented here! When you use a Tobii Pro eye tracker, you do get the raw gaze data. The Tobii algorithm uses a unique 3D eye model to calculate gaze position for left/right eye separately as well as the 3D gaze convergence point, but no other filtering is done to those gaze points or metrics. Hi Marisa Biondi . Sorry for the misunderstanding, it was not what the person from tobii that came to my university told us (or I misunderstood) and not what I found on internet .. But I think that your message will clarify questions for future researchers :)

Anyway, now we bought a GazePoint GP3 HD because of the budget we have..
