The City of Toronto has a trash audit that uses 300 predefined sentinel sites for littering (google Toronto Litter Audit). You might enquire with them to see if they'll give you gps co-ordinates or perhaps even some data. Gum was the most common form of small trash (33%).
DNA extraction from litter (abandoned DNA) is used forensically and Hong Kong had a a shaming campaign designed around extrapolation features from DNA from a variety of trash types in 2015
