Recently, I wanna measure the ATPase activity of ABC transporters expressed using Sf9 cells in vitro. According to the reports in the paper, the ATPase assay premix contains 6.5mM sodium azide(50mM MOPS, 65mM KCl, 6.5mM NaN3, 2.6mM DTT, 1.28mM ouabain, 0.65 mM EGTA). I want to know what is the role of sodium azide in this solution system. And because sodium azide is a flammable and highly toxic compound, the laboratory has banned its use. I also want to ask what reagents can replace sodium azide?
Thanks all your guys.
