What is the meaning and explanation of finding irregular absorbance in UV-Vis spectrum. Actulayy i have 2 overlapping absorption bands at 330 and 340 nm, but i don't know why i got irregular bands. BTW, i already made background correction using blank.
is it possible that your instrument changes radiation source around this wavelength (e.g. from deuterium to tungsten)? if there is a problem with the wavelength calibration, it may cause additional peaks at shifted wavelength

find attached absorption spectrum in DMSO and excitation spectrum in ethylene glycol. this phenomena occurs with all 20 solvents i use.

As you have explained the problem it is most probably joined with impurity of your sample
Well now, thanks for the plots. As the excitation spectrum is in good accordance with the absorbance spectrum (at least for the chosen emission wavelength), there is a good chance that your absorbance spectrum shows the absorbance properties of one, pure, single compound. This would come out even clearer, when measuring a full EEM (excitation emission matrix).
Might be that your sample is not the expected compound? How would a "regular" spectrum look like?
Thanks! to resolve this problem, i simply plot spectra in the range of 300-370 nm. is it ok?
