We know there are some methods for estimating a patient’s blood volume (or blood loss volume) or evaluating the response of patients to volume therapy. However, these methods are best suited inside a hospital. For the prehospital phase, BP still plays a major role in determining the volume status of patients and in guiding volume therapy efforts. On the other side, the goal of volume therapy is still under investigation and there are various protocols on this matter (attaining and maintaining lower than normal BP, or normal BP, or higher than normal BP, or some protocols which rely on the duration of prehospital delay and patients BP status).
