I agree with Ajit Singh . I chose to change fields for several reasons:
having interdisciplinary skills and knowledge gives you a more unique perspective;
I wanted to research an area that I knew less about. I knew this would be more challenging, however I wanted to master another field rather than continue in a previous field;
the new field was aligned with where I wanted to be career wise and I wanted to become an expert in that area.
I spent a lot of time researching different doctoral programmes, on reflection I am glad that I decided to research in a new field.
