I fully agree with Nazia. Distance teaching / learning, as far as frontal lessons are concerned, is always an excellent solution regardless of COVID19. On the other hand, the restrictions due to COVID19 are absolutely necessary to contain and limit the epidemic. Any way the restriction are and will be temporary.

In this specific situation we could consider next options to mitigate current issues:

1) recording lectures and send prepared video lectures - but without any interactivity;

2) using videoconference tools - very expensive, not possible if learners are not in the classrooms;

3) providing lecture notes and slides + organizing tutorial chats - may be more suitable option.

A strategy that can work given the limited time is to engage students that will be learning about what can work best for them. Remember, even distance-learning approach is a technique and it has to be done right. So I suggest you improvise by doing what is preferred by your students. I don't think a generalized approach will work.

The distance learning is enough for some filed of studies and is not enough or cannot for other fields, it depends on several factors which can determine the succeeded and failed in this type of learning as listed below:

- On person who is learning.

- On the field, for example, arts and economic can be lent from a distance, engineering and medicine cannot.

- On the institute that provides the distance learning.

- On the period of the study, the period should be as that of normal study.

There is no such thing as distance learning.

Just stop and think. An individual is always present when he or she learns, no exceptions. But, the learner is dependent on access to learning content, motivation, access to learning situations and communication with teacher and peers. So "distance teaching" is a more meaningful term. And learning is learning.

"Distance learning" represents a) a university old-fashioned centre-periphery perspective, and b) a feeling that what is taught should instantly be learned, so we can just omit teaching when we talk and call it all learning. But then we just ignore the pedagogical problem.

Let's talk about access, inclusion and flexibility in education as the normality instead (and not as any generous technical exception), as we live in a society where this is fully possible.

As we can not currently teach by face-to-face way, distance learning is the only relevant solution. And mostly effective option to mitigate arised emernency problem is to use e-learning materials and online evaluations.

It is a very useful tool in emergency conditions, but it should be supported by a strong training programs for teachers and effective softwares and strong network.

Almost every aspect is appreciative regarding distance learning but neck pain for the learners at certain point is obviously unavoidable ! Here the key is conductive learning management system. It is also be noted that learning curve for the less technically savvy.

In Uzbekistan all secondary schools use TV programs set especially developed by teachers to continue education without breaking caused by corona virus.

Change our classical mindset to digitally thinking. Now, The campus is not the building but the building in your mind and expresses it in the digital platform.

Yes, digital classes/online/distance learning is an effective alternative. However, pupils below the 7th standard will face difficult to learn.

1) Underdeveloped and developing countries may face due to poor access to the internet (especially remote areas).

2) In spite of all the challenges, we have to encourage distance learning...and I agree with Dr. Hassan Izzeddin Sarsak , Dr. Chimi Djomo Cédric and Dr. Paul B Timotiwu.

Govt./NGOs should encourage digital learning by creating awareness, providing basic facilities for all the students (especially poor and vulnerable sectors).

It has advantages and beneficial in the current situation, but can’t be replaced with a classical study system which provides motivation, interest and competitive environments.

Covid or no Covid distance learning has many advantages. However, I would prefer online learning over distance learning since distance learning via correspondence or other means would be less beneficial. Distance learning whereby a student sits in and interacts with a teacher in the classroom remotely via live video or watching a lecture I have found to not be as good as when there are specific developed course material and educator interaction for guidance using clearly developed pedagogical/ andragogical strategies. Online learning brings very distinct advantages over "Distance learning" or Remote access becasue of this.

Distance learning method is getting more and more popular in many countries. The advantage of this method is due to several factors, namely: less time spent on time and financial resources, flexibility and availability of the course, freedom of choice and mobility. The modern education system seeks to develop technological progress that is irreversible. The needs of students and pupils are rapidly changing with time, which requires modification of the education system.
