Having suffered a MA poetry seminar where I was the only male amongst 10 women, and resented for being there, is this what you mean by New Australian Poetry?
Hi Mark, the "New Australian Poetry" refers to the Australian Poetry collection edited by John Tranter encompassing the poets of the '68 Movement. The title is a play on the book the "New American Poetry" edited by Donald M. Allen which has many of the New York School poets (O'Hara, Ashberry) who were significant Queer poets of influence on the '68 Movement. Sorry you had such a poor experience of poetry classes!
His Thomas, thanks for explaining. 1968 seems very un-new to me - unless you're doing a thesis about aspects Australian poetry in the past? Personally, I would not go near a university to improve my writing again.
Mark
