Different research articles shows the different peaks of the iron oxide nanoparticles so which one is correct. Is there a standard peak for iron oxide nanoparticles in UV-Vis spectrophotometer.
Is there any standard protocol to be followed to get the analysis of the peak of UV-Vis spectrophotometer?
As per my view: (1) reason of peak shifting: particle size (2) Dispersion of particle in the solvent (3) Choose solvent for better homogenization and so on.
UV absorption spectrum and the peaks therein signify the absorption behaviour of the material in question. The peak correspond to SPR (surface plasmon resonance) charactrisic for a nanomaterial which however shows shift to higher or lower wavelength base on increase or decrease in particle size. Choose suitable solvent, homogenize by sonication and then check for its spectrum. If it is not a stable colloidal dispersion it may show anomalous behaviour.calculate band energy from wavelength of maximum absorption & compare with reported value.
