What decides if alcohol dehydrogenase is NAD+ dependent or NADP+ dependent ?

what decides if alcohol dehydrogenase is bound to NADH or NADPH ? some enzymes contain NADPH as bound co-factor but does not show invitro dependency to NADP+, instead are active with NAD+ ?
