What criteria do i have to consider when i want to design a suicide vector for gene knockout?

I want to knockout a gene in streptococcus equi. I read in several articles that they've been used some special vectors such as pSET4s. what is the special characteristic of a vector from other vectors that makes it suitable for a bacterium and not for another?
