Actually, I have done the experiment where the single crystalline substrate has used to coat a thin film. In that, I have got substrate peaks and also thin-film material peaks also. But some extra small peaks have observed. Actually it is a Barium strontium titanate ceramic material coated on the MgO(100) substrate by using the Pulsed Laser Deposition technique (PLD). Extra peaks that have not matched with the substrate and material peaks, such as degrees of 25, 34, 45, and 63.
What could be the reason for that XRD peaks exits. ?
It arise due to following factors is impurities, moisture content, instrument not calibrated and some manual error.

You can use a log scale in y-axis, instead of linear scale in your XRD graph. This will help you to isolate the peaks related to contamination. Avoid moisture in the sample while taking XRD data. You can use oven to dry the sample before doing XRD measurement. Use litarature to explain the peaks even if you think they are from contamination.

Alloy formation or chemical reaction between the film and the substrate at the interface may result in small extra peaks. It depends on the materials of the substrate and film. If you may give some more information, we may give more suggestions...

Please check the question once again, I have edited the question with all the thin film, substrate, and coating details.
Did you cross-checked phases such as TiO2, which is likely to appear? What about pure BaTiO3? If you publish the XRD pattern or provide peak angles for the unexpected extra peaks, people on RG may eventually help..

The XRD peak at 25 and 45 belongs to BTO. There is a possibility that you are end up forming mixed grains of Barium strontium titanate as well as BTO and STO.
Generally double perovskites are tricky to grow with PLD, especially on MgO (100) substrate that generally suffers from the surface oxidation. However, you can play with the substrate temperature and Oxygen pressure to grow a single-phase, single-crystal thin-film of BaxSr1-xTiO3. And yes post annealing helps a lot in improving your thin-film quality.
