I have superconducting nitride thinfilm, which when cooled below Tc shows a huge drop is resistance. However a minute resistance is observed (decreases slightly with temp) even well below Tc. What could be the reasons?
Is the film not completely superconducting or is it due to disorder or any other phenomenon like metallic nature?
Often the finite resistance tail is found below Tc down to the lowest temperature. This may be due to the difference between the electron and phonon temperatures or noise in the measuring circuit. In a relatively high temperature region close to Tc, thermally excited free vortices cause a finite resistance due to their flow motions. If you have inhomogeneities in the composition of the sample, this may be due to the reciprocal proximity effect.
