I need complete information regarding tomato irrigation in pot experiment .
if the bag has 9kg of soil and the climate is changing how many days many days require to irrigate the tomato (2, 3, 4 days) . the other question is through out tomato growing we will apply the same amount of water. how to maintain the specific field capacity at 100% 80% and 60% in pot experiment
please also share management allowed deficit (MAD) for tomato and their explanation.
There cant be any speculation for such exercise , need to methodically work out , especially in potted plants , depending upon nature of soil , size of pot and growing conditions.
Interesting, In Pot experiment, you need to be cautious about water loss and wilting, it also depends upon the control of other parameters like Temp and RH.
Water equivalent to field capacity is maintained in pot culture by weighing the pots and applying water equivalent to the loss of water by evapotranspiration at regular intervals, for example, 12-24 hours
Put a small amount of soil in a small pot, flood the soil and allow it to drain overnight or for a few days, then take the wet weight. The same sample is oven-dried and uses these data to calculate field capacity. For those in the pots, using this information, set to 100 FC, and rest are maintained based on the weight basis, following dry down. After that, just add water to maintain the desired FC.
