@ Deshan, major air pollutants are : carbon dioxide, lead, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, sulfur dioxide and particles. Sulfur dioxide and ozone can harm directly to the vegetation. As already stated, the acid rain is the major cause of damage to vegetation through air pollution. When acidic air pollutants, for example sulfur dioxide, combine with water droplets especially under cold weather, the water becomes acidic. When those droplets fall to the ground, the acid rain can damage the environment, kills trees and other wild lives.Air pollution is more harmful to weak vegetation.
Pollution with sulfuric acid (associated with foundries mainly), generates acid rain, which will burn the leaves and leach the metal nutrients from the soil.
