We are trying to develop a solar drying for drying agriculture produce and to improve its efficiency want to use some phase changing material for heat storage during sun hours and gradual release after sunset for keeping the temperature high for drying. What could be possible materials for heat storage in this regard?
It could be water heated in the day by solar power and kept in insulated tanks and used when the sun is down.
I can see a bed of silicate material which would be connected to a solar collector the heat would pass through the bed and be convected to the environment. Sunlight with heat and dry the material. At night the hot dry bed is vented through the drier using the dry material and the retained heat for the drying the ventilator fan can be driven by photoelectric with a battery charging to propel the energy for ventilation at night. For the practical application the concept needs to be consulted with engineers to get practical application
If sufficient temperature is available the material can be dried otherwise there are chances of moisture gain
