I'm working on bacterial cellulose producing acetic acid bacteria and I came across an article where the authors mentioned a medium that contains acetic acid 0.2% (v/v). my question is, what concentration of acetic acid have they used?
PS: I've read the article many times and they did not mention the concentration that they have used.
I think that if the authors did not mention what concentration of acetic acid was used, it can be assumed that it was either glacial acetic acid (as mentioned by some authors, e.g. Article Bacterial cellulose production by Gluconacetobacter entanii ...
) or acetic acid at a concentration> 99.5%. At the same time, it is worth repeating the methodology to confirm these findings and, if necessary, carry out your own optimization. Good luck :)
I strongly agree with Daria Ciecholewska-Juśko. My suggestion is to contact the authors (or the correspondence author). I believe that they are willing to help you and will answer this question.
You should vary concentration of acetic acid from 0.2% 0.5% and 1%
