I perform OCP measurement both voltmeter and potentiostat (2 electrodes technique). Sometimes it takes too many times to reach stable OCP. I am wondering "what is the reaching equilibrium in terms of physical changes ". Probably, a stable (or passive layer) is formed so there is no net ion or electron motion (from/to electrode-electrolyte) but i need more scientific and (if possible) detailed information. Another point why some systems requires too many times to reach equilibrium (in some studies i cannot see a stable OCP after 2-2.5 hours)

Thanks in advance
