The Ar+ laser providing high power are not anymore sold. The 514 nm line can be easily replaced by the 532 nm Nd:YAG laser line. But for Raman analysis in the field of mineralogy, the purple line at 457 nm with 200 mW of power is very important in case of fluorescent minerals. Does anyone know if there is solid or diode lasers that can subsitute this line? We need a wavelength in the same range within ~ 10 nm and at least 150 mW power.
you may want to look for diode lasers, which are available in the range 450-460 nm with power up to >1W. Osram is possible supplier of such diodes
Thank you but with a spectral width of 2 nm, I think it is not suitable for Raman spectroscopy.
I agree. they didn't state the width on the website I found the diodes. it may be an option to install a grating as a feedback element in order to narrow the bandwidth (like in single mode diode lasers), but there is no guarantee that it works sufficiently well
Frequency doubled Nd:Vanadate (914 nm -> 457 nm) would be a drop-in replacement with appropriate linewidth.
