I am looking for material which can replace aluminium in aerospace industry as i want material which will be having high melting point and must be light in weight. As i am looking at this from commercial point of view so if that material is easily available and cheap then it would be better. Especially Aluminium 7075
Probably such substitute is not possible. Anyway I am following and interested to get the better substitute.

composites definitely. even aluminum is not used in its pure form but as an alloy. most of the modern airliners structures is made up of composites these days.
Probably such substitute is not possible. Anyway I am following and interested to get the better substitute.

i was thinking of it before, but such polymers wont be able to withstand the strain and tempreture.
A nickel material "as strong as titanium but four to five times lighter".

Aluminum is used in the manufacture of aircraft structures because it is resistant to corrosion, lightweight and strong at the same time, as well as good economic feasibility compared to other materials. So I do not think the existence of alternative material in the near future.

- aluminium alloys (AA) still have a great future:
- AA 2198 (Al-Cu-Li) and the family of aluminiums 8xxx (Al-Li) are becoming increasingly used in aerospace industry in fuselage skin panels, etc.;
- AA 2219 is being used in the ISS;
- the first ground base in Mars will certainly be made of Al alloys since composites still have not enough damage tolerance;
- the Cu wiring will be substituted progressively by Al electric cables in many applications;
- 45% of the structure of many cars is made of casted Al alloys, and it is forecasted a growing use of Al in cars; and
- 3D printing and other techniques included in the category of additive manufacturing will become essential an many parts of cars and other structures will be manufactured this way, etc.

Adding on to Ido Telio glass laminate aluminum reinforced epoxy (GLARE) could be a good alternative to aluminum. It is a fiber-metal laminate (FML) composed of several thin layers of aluminum and pre-impregnated carbon fiber bonded together using epoxy. It has multiple advantages over standard aluminum:
- It has better damage tolerance, especially in cases of impact and metal fatigue.
- Better corrosion resistance
- Better fire resistance
- And lower specific weight
GLARE has been used in the Airbus A380 fuselage and the leading edges of the planes empennage.

It would be hard to find a substitute for AL. In fact, It took a long time for the extractive metallurgy to be able produce Aluminum element(Al) from its core,i.e. Al2O3, especially because of the high temperature necessary to melt the aluminum oxide, Tm= 2,072 °C . Those efferts eventually produced Al with unique physical/chemical properties.
Carbon fibers are now widely used in the aerospace industry to replace most of metallic parts
