I am a research student and my work is related to replacement of fine aggregate in concrete with some waste material. I will be performing tests to check the electromagnetic shielding of the resulting concrete. I want to know what appropriate sample size of concrete I can use for this test?
As long as the sample is large enough to fit the measurement system; much larger than the aggregate particle size; and thick enough to have a measurable shielding I doubt it matters much.
Probably more important, is how you terminate the edges into your measurement system. I assume here that you are measuring the shielding effectiveness of a sheet. It would be wise to make the sheet size large compared to its thickness to minimise edge effects, but again the connection to the jig may be the most critical part.
It would help if you said something about the measurement technique that you intend to use.
