There are many types of phosphodiesterase (PDE) as well as subfamilies of each type. What assay that we can do to identify the specific target of the drug using in vitro and in vivo study?
phosphodiesterase 4B is an enzyme, and not a drug. The type IV, cyclic AMP (cAMP)-specific, cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase (PDE) regulates the cellular concentrations of cyclic nucleotides, and consequently plays a role in signal transduction. Alterations in the activity of this enzyme has been associated with schizophrenia and bipolar affective disorder.
