I have positive experiences of working with the commercial sector in the UK and France in relation to teaching/training and want to compare my experience with the wider sector. Currently writing a paper to reflect on why our collaborations work, examining the efficacy of how we measure/review successful delivery of teaching and examine whether it is typical or not of similar situations. Would welcome your general observations/experience or pointers to your publications that I may be able to cite that review the efficacy of methods for evaluation of measuring teaching success and/or teaching collaborations with the commercial sector.

I commend your research topic as I have not seen a lot of research on teaching collaborations with the commercial sector. I must admit that we have forged good relationships with the commercial sector for our graduate students in TVET for internships but such opportunities for faculty have not been explored. I do think these should be as the exposure for students have been very rewarding, so the same could be true for faculty. If you can share some more on the how your collaboration with the commercial sector is arranged, I'll be thankful.

In Sri Lankan context, both are almost similar. But, students of higher education, they search and learn based on our guidelines. But, In commercial education, students are not willing to search and learn themselves. They are 99% depend on us and the private organizations expect a lot from us.

It is great to see more researchers now engaging in this type of scholarship. It is even more gratifying that universities are now recognizing this scholarship approach. To get to your question, my belief is that in order for any two entities to partner on a project, there has to be something in it for both of them. In addition, both partners must contribute to the effort. I have detailed this theory in the attached paper as well as other approaches to making a collaboration of this type successful.

When I refer to commercial sector in this context the collaborating partner only receives funding for their education provision from industry - no government support whatsoever therefore entirely reliant on providing an education that meets the needs of the employers of the French construction industry. In our collaboration with the French education company one of the benefits is that a higher degree can be awarded through our university that adds value to the existing awards the French education provider offers and those students meeting the academic standards required are fully supported by their employer and sponsored through the higher degree.
