One of the methods is using eye tracking to analyze different attribute of a visual data as perceived by a viewer. It is more of understanding the viewer in terms of looking that the visual data.

I am not very sure if I have answered your question correctly.

I'm rather looking for solutions from visual grounded theory, visual discourse analysis, visual ethnography but thank You for the answer.

From my simple research experience in the field of visual analysis and my proposal for a visual analysis grid in my book (visual semiotics), the most important method for visual data analysis is the visual analysis grid.

A static visual message analysis grid is proposed as follows:

1. The description of the message includes:

- sender (creator of the message).

- the message (type and date).

- Message axes.

2. An approach formats including:

- upstream (visual message).

- downstream (advertising).

3. Iconographic approach, including:

- Cultural and social field.

- The field of aesthetic creativity in the message.

4. Semiotic approach, including:

- The field of rhetoric in the message.

- The first relationship means and the second meaning implicit (interpretation of the visual message).

In my current epistemological perspective I understand image as discourse, because I start from an extended notion of discourse. Therefore, my "lugar de fala" is cultural and post-colonial studies, because I am a researcher in a global southern. So I analyse And interpret visual data in the same way that I do with texts.

In this sense, I use semantic categories (in photograph: movement / fluency / life / heat / lightness / antigravity / dance) as support for image analysis , because I believe that inside they reside in the strategies of enunciation.

I like to use QDA to organize the data and have more lights/insights.

In my university we used a bit of: "semanálise", but this is not my specialty I will humbly present some studies of colleagues who work with this line of research:

Ps.: Looking at your images, I remembered a phrase from Bourdieu saying: "To be part of a photograph is to guarantee the witness of the presence" although your analysis material is paintings, not photographs, I think they show which presence is recorded. Bourdieu said that what is important in the analysis of an image is not the elements that compose it, but how these elements are related within the image.
