There are different fields of simulation. One of the main topic is cumbustion simulation. Here you can use zero & one dimensional simulation of intake system, combustion chamber and exhaust system (eventuelly including supercharger). Another possibility is to use 3 dimensional simulation (3D-CFD) for detailed investigation of flow situations and combustion.

Examplary programs:

AVL Boost, WAVE (for zero and one dimensional simulation)

AVL Fire, Fluent, Star CCM+ (for 3D-CFD)

Actually, in simulation software as AVL BOOST, you need to upload the combustion model parameters.

And that is the most dificult challenge of this kind of simulation área. Don´t you agree?

I use AVL and it seems that I have to get the experimental data first - but mt research performs the oposite... that´s the dificculty.
