I am thinking of pursuing a PhD but confused in choosing a good topic. What are today's most attractive and relevant topics in Library and Information science most especially in the field of ICT, AI and Robotics?
In the 21st century, the central purpose of most types of library is no longer to provide access to information but to energize connection and creation. In light of this, data and web specialists are the right people to turn libraries into knowledge services centers but they need new orientations, skills, and what might be termed knowledge behaviors. Despite the fact that data and web management teams rarely comprise more than one person, the disproportionate value they can bring to libraries demands that they rally together. Any research on how data and web specialists in libraries might collaborate would be welcome.
Of the current issues and based on a prospective (knowing the past, understanding the present and projecting future scenarios) I consider that institutional repositories and the use of systems such as OJS to support open science and open access in both cases .
But if the doctoral student is dedicated to research, the most convenient is the metric analysis of science from a social perspective and the use of collaborative networks.
You may find an interesting topic by reviewing the literature on "information anxiety" particularly in the context of workplace. The following areas may also be useful.
Information sociology
Information literacy (Workplace, everyday life, Citizenship, etc.)
The Covid 19 pandemic has generated a large amount of fraudulent information. The theme of the Infodemic and how the librarian manages this information, how using information literacy instructs the user, would turn out to be of great importance in these times.
