I am a Phd student and I need to do XRD analysis on my pouder samples namely ( cement- sand- limestone and calcined clay). I was asked asked to specify the analysis conditions:
-the nature of the samples and the elemental composition -the analysis range -not -speed
Since i have no idea what this is, can you help me?

Hi Amina Ben , in such a case the best practice is to see literature. The area in which you have started your research will definitely have some already published papers. Open those papers and read "Experimental details". You will/shall find the details which other researchers have used.
However, i briefly answer you:
Nature of sample: You have urself said "Powder".
Elemental composition: What elements are you expecting in your samples... as you have said its cement-sand-limestone..... so i guess your sample will have Si, Al, Oxides etc..... [See the literature].
Analysis range: between which angles do you want the XRD data. Normally, it is between 10 - 90 degree... but its subjective [See the literature].
Speed: is important. If you fix the speed very fast, you may miss some peaks. See the literature, normally it is 1-5 degree/min.

The general condition of the sample is that the sample should be homogeneous and representative and at least 3 grams of the sample should be analyzed as a powder with a size of 75 microns from the sample and also XRD is only able to identify phases in the sample more than 1-5 Weight percentages are available.
For mineral samples, I suggest using a duct angle of 4 to 70 degrees with steps of two hundredths of a degree and a stop time of 1 second per step, and set the voltage to 40 kV and the amperage to 30 mA during the analysis.
If you intend to deliver your sample to the operator, information such as the nature of the sample, the possible phases in the sample, the procedures performed on the sample (heated - is it affected by acid or not?) Or any other process on the sample Implemented must be announced.
Analysis range: such as, it is between 10 - 90 degree
Speed: normally it is 1-5 degree/min.
For all sample should be ground to micron size, and dry sample, one gram or less enough for test
The element composition for
Cement: C3S, C2S, C3A, C4AF, Gypsum, CaO.
Sand: SiO2, and other oxides depend on nature and purity of sand, some time have Al2O3 or CaO ....
Lime stone : mainly CaO and other oxides depend on nature and purity, some time have SiO2, MgO, Fe2O3 ....
Calcined clay: Al2O3, Fe2O3, Na2O, K2O, CaO, SiO2 .......
