The unit of harvest index can be expressed as Pecentage (%) though it is a ratio of grain yield to the total Biological yield.

HI= grain yield/ bio-yield (grain+biomass).

HI units is % only, others grams, kgs, Mkg..depending on area you are talking about. Regards

The harvest index (HI) is calculated as the ratio of grain weight to total above-ground crop dry weight. Both the units get canceled and HI will become unit less.
