What are the specific applications of Aluminium to Copper Welding ?

Al-Cu joints are widely used for electric conductors and heat exchangers.
The applications of Al-Cu are depending upon the type of welding process.
1- Fusion welding such as laser welding of copper with aluminium is characterized by the formation of a common melting pool, where brittle
intermetallics are formed during cooling. These phases show very different mechanical as well as electrical properties.
2- solid-state welding should give a good solution as welding occurs below melting temperature. Friction stir welding have already reached the mature stadium for industrial production and represent a good opportunity.
