Mineral water is characterized by light acidity. This ratio can be observed in rainwater. The reaction of this water with limestone is caused by calcium bicarbonate according to the following equation:
CaCO3 + CO2 + H2O = Ca (HCO3) 2
The interaction occurs when this type of water is released to the surface of the earth. The temperature is reduced and the pressure decreases. This reaction results in the deposition of calcium carbonate and the volatilization of carbon dioxide. Calcium carbonate and some sediments such as travertine are called calcium carbonate.
