Why are you interested in doing nanoindentation in spark plasma sintered specimens? I mean, what are you looking to study?
Nanonindentation interacts with a very small volume of the sample, tipically some tens of nanometers, a bit more for high loads, but in any case a volume smaller than several microns, which is the smaller diameter of the powders used in spark plasma sintering.
So, during one measurement, your nanoindenter tip will interact with only one powder particle (eventually two in case you are close ato a interface between particles).
However, when you are producing a specimen by spark plasma sintering, you are using a huge amount of powder particles. Consequently, the obvious answer to your question would be that the smallest dimension is that of few units of particles, but you will never do spark plasma sintering on only a few units of powder particles.
So, could you re-formulate your question in relationship with the idea about what are you looking for?
